Opposition Reject Presidential Election Results in the Gambia

The leader of the Opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, has vehemently rejected Thursday’s election outcome describing it as “bogus” and “fraudulent”. The election results gave Jammeh at least 72% of an over 80% voter turnout. Darboe pulled 17% while Independent candidate finished with only 11%. In a scanty preliminary statement, the UDP which is also in alliance with the Gambia Moral Congress (GMC) said the results “…constitute a capricious usurpation of the will of the people.” Continue reading
